Last year I signed up for courses with the Computer Training College (www.ctcollege.co.uk).
I signed up for the CompTIA A+, N+, Microsoft MCSA and Cisco CCNA. I have reached the stage where I am ready to take my A+ exams and contacted them about booking them. I was then told that the exam fees were not included in the course fees I had paid up front.
Having now done some research online I have found out that the CT College have often been quoted as fleecing students. They charge large fees, provide little support, and misrepresent their services.I am currently speaking to them and will try to cancel my course, and reclaim my course fees. I will be looking to start court action and contact the Trading Standards if I do not get a reasonable response from them.
I’ll keep you updated with my progress, but I would warn anyone considering study with them to reconsider QUICKLY. Having done the study for one qualification, I could do just as good a job with a £30 book from Borders or Amazon.

Update 1: I received a letter today stating that they stand by their original letter. They have no record of my phone call to them querying the exam fees being included, and believe that it was clearly explained that they were external and excluded. Luckily my girlfriend was in the room with me at the time and can vouch for this. My next action is to get copies of my phone bill showing this phone call to them, and ask them to investigate that. If they cannot prove that they told me otherwise, I will argue some more. As I said, I also have corroboration of this matter.
Update 2: I’ve written back to them for a third time, enclosing proof of a phone call they claim they have no record of where I was told that my exams were included. I now wait for a reply.
Update 3: I have set up a Google Group here where people can share their thoughts a bit better, and hopefully get the word out about these people.
Update 4: I have edited some comments on this post to remove direct contact details of specific tutors at the CTC at that person’s request. I would advise you to contact the central number directly and obtain particular contact details that way. I will also edit any future comments received to remove direct contact info as well.

Me Too…..paid them a years worth of money – £1000 and for what – their materials and training are awful. You all might like to know the Computer Training College Ltd, Potters Bar are in administration – search for “webcheck” on google and put in their name – the status column shows “R” – meaning in receivership. I have just written to them to tell them I have cancelled the course and requested all of money back – course i don’t think I’ll get it. Anyone else have the same problem? Be good if the above posters can keep the thread up to date, I’ll do my bit……….

So far my first letter was poorly replied to. They basically just said no the exams aren’t included and avoided my true complaint completely.
I wrote back to them and said they were just avoiding the real issue, being that I was explicitly told they WERE included.
I’m trying to get my money back. I’m not too optimistic but I have threatened taking legal action against them, or at least going to the CAB for help.
Please let me know what happens with your case. Perhaps together we can get some action out of them.
Had a chat with the Administrator, Independent Student Funding Ltd are purchasing CTC. The directors of CTC have bought the company – same directors as I S Funding Ltd!! Along with the company they buy the credit contracts etc.
Had a chat with CTC a couple of days ago – they are tricky, the lady I spoke to confirms that ISF Ltd are collecting payments and providing services now.
My local trading standards office think the agreement is difficult to get out of – anyone else have experience of this?

Yes guys we all in the same boat with same problems. I have a lot of problems with this bustards to. What a mug I was to sign a contract with them. The is much more better material on internet for just symbolical price or even for free. Does eny1 already was in court? Please tell how it was?

When they enroll me, and tell me all the lies about how much they care about their students And after finishing the course they will get you job (All f……ing liars)
Any way I am trying to get my money back (poor service, pay lot of money for nothing)
I send a letter to them through Nottingham Trading Standards Advice Center.
Saying the commitment they made to me when I start my A+ course.
They reply to me, totally opposite that they didn’t make those promises.
I never complied before all the sudden I am complaining after sixteen month of my course.
Which make me very very angry.
I will see what I can do to get my money back.

This is the first time I have heard that Computer Training College have had received complaints from disgruntled students about their course material and online support.

Im also trying to get money back from them, i agreed to pay the deposit only from my bank account for an ex boyfriend and they were charging me from my account for the whole course. This was a couple of years ago now and the account has now closed but I am in the process of getting the charges back for not paying for this. I also asked them for a copy of any agreement that i had signed to say i would pay the full amount of the course – they couldn’t find it. Cheers, any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I am CTC since december 2007 in a Web-Design Course CIW, and I’m starting to worry. I’ve paid over £2000. So far I’ve only received 2 books. Between the 2 assessments it took them more than a month to send me the next book. I’ve called them twice they always say I’ll receive it within a week and NOTHING!
Anyone can give me advice or if they went to court, because I’m starting to think about it to get my money back. My mom paid me that course and I feel very bad.

As with everyone else I have had the same problem with CTCOLLEGE.
I wrote to them to say that I was cancelling my agreement due to being charged to much money and being told that I would have to pay for the exams out off my own pocket.
I received a letter back from the creditor department saying and I Quote “we do not feel tgar there are any other valid grounds on which this contract should be rescinded”
Also if I was to cancel my agreement then I would be taken to court for CTCOLLEGE to collect the rest off the ballance.
Since searching for ways to cancel the agreement, I have found this that under the UNSATISFACTORY GOODS AND SERVICES, this situation is far to often to lots off people.
and that if you were told verbally before signing the agreement then this is breaking their agreement.
I hope that this helps a few people out and understanding.

I wasd sent to this site when i typed in complaints about the computer trainig college. i would like vevryone to be aware that i have contacted watchdog and would advise you to do the same thing. it strange one of you mentioned that you had to wait months for your trainig equipment to come but my advisor gave me mine. its in a black back that says cTc in that context. is this right for all of you. is anyone eleded tutior called {edited by request} please as this knowlege willl help us all. please feel free to e-mail me regarding the isues of dealing with this college. it would be intrestiung to see if the problem is in a certain area or wether ist county wide. Hi Everyone. These people are real scammers. I signed up a credit agreement with these guys for thousands of pounds and they do nothing and worst of all they do not care about providing the services they are meant to be providing. I have reported them to the watchdog and intend to go to the office of fair traiding.I want my money back as well.I was given a black bag with ctc on it, lots of photocopied paper and {edited by request} is meant to be the so called Tutor who is to be called to get a lesson and paid as well. Hello its me again. i contacted whatchdog and they are looking into it. i ask everyone to please do the same thing for we must stick together. Like i saqid this colllege didnt even inform me that my tutot had left for a good year. Also i keep trying to contact them and i never get a reply. im now contactuing my mp to get my money back. i would advise others to do the same thing.
Hello, i am leaving a note to say the Computer Training College is dormant which means they should not be trading, if it ever went to court it would get threw out, i am stil receiving letters from them today demanding payments, i signed up for them because the ’stuttering prick’ (Sorry For my language) who signed me up made it out that the company was amazing and done everything for there students, LIES..Everything was going fine for me the first few wks until i stopped getting manuals, think i got 4 in total, i was contacting them out via letter and emails and getting no reply until i stopped the payments. i was getting arrears letters, emails from matt morris saying if im struggling to contact him. i werent struggling just chose not to continue with the course THEY broke there agreement not me, another thing i was in touch with the CAB and Trading Standards and they had heard of this company before and advised not to pay them and let it go to court. i sent them a small claims form saying i am claiming my money back from them.
I sent a letter to whatch dog please back me up. we must work together to stop this bast**** from taking our money. i will see what else we can do about this. Im wondering if the person who visited was evenm with the company or whether i wasa victum of the real hustle
